Before Black History Month closed out, I started watching Pioneers of African-American Cinema on Netflix. It’s a collection of early cinema made by African Americans from 1918 to 1939. It’s the streaming version of a 2015 DVD/Blu-ray release by Kino Lorber, which I hope to pick sometime later this year since I’m a physical media guy. I haven’t had much time to check it out, but a week ago I did manage to watch the first film in the collection: Hellbound Train. Continue reading
